What's a TopSite? 

A Topsite is a directory listing of sites that the public can use to find websites in a given category such as UT99 / UT GOTY. Each time a user clicks a link from the original topsite website a vote is given to the site the user has chosen to visit. The website with the most votes shows up at the top of the topsite.

Each website listed in a topsite is given a special HTML code that webmaster place on their webpages to generate votes. This voting code usually contains a text link, banner, or small button that is hyperlinked to the topsite voting script.

If a user clicks the voting link on the listed site the site owner gets another vote and the visitor is sent to the full listing of sites in the toplist. Usually these votes are filtered through a "voting gateway" to make sure that webmasters do not cheat the toplist by forcing their users to vote. A voting gateway usually tracks the voters by cookie and by IP to make sure each visitor can only vote a specific amount of time.

Why Use a Topsite?

Topsites are a terrific tool to promote websites and an awesome, interactive way for users to find new and popular websites.  Especially if the topsite has a good Google PageRank which in turns helps your own Google ranking.  However, be aware that submitting sites to TopSites that do not have a good pagerank can in turn decrease your own Google ranking.

Where do I find Topsites for UT99 / UT GOTY?

Many Topsites come and go and it is getting increasingly hard to find good UT99 / UT GOTY Topsites.  You can do a search on Google or search for links on the TopSites itself.  However, we have already done a lot of research and you may want to submit your site to the TopSites we have found on the left of this website.  These are constantly scrutinized.
