I bought UT99 GOTY edition to see what all the hype was about back in the day. Installed fine, but when I go to run it I get a black screen that hangs until I am forced to manually restart the computer.
I ran it in safe mode in a window checking and unchecking options to see what the issue was and it appears the factor that kills it is sound. I managed to run the game without sound just fine, but of course that is no way to play a game.
Any advice for how to get the sound to work?

And the sound driver is... SigmaTel High-Definition Audio/Legacy Drivers. It's always been a little sketchy with old games (like Blood 2) but UT99 is much more recent than that and appears to use the same engine as Unreal, which ran fine.
